What this site is
Shymkent.com is an independent travel guide to Shymkent, Turkistan and the surrounding region. It is not an official tourism website and is not affiliated with the city administration or any tour operator.
Southern Kazakhstan is one of the most rewarding corners of Central Asia and one of the least written about. Our aim is simple: give travellers accurate, practical information in one place — what there is to see, how to reach it, how long it takes and which tours are actually bookable.
How we work
- We cross-check facts against multiple sources, and we hedge where things change often — prices, timetables, opening hours and border procedures.
- We list only real, currently bookable tours, and we say so when a product is new and unreviewed.
- We do not publish invented prices, ratings or reviews.
- All photographs are freely licensed and credited on the image credits page.
